A double-page spread of some of my work in national magazine

Prashphutita A. Greco

My photographic journey commenced as a teenager when I acquired a Polaroid Land camera. In the latter half of high school I started using a manual Pentax SLR, which was available for loan there. I'd shoot B&W and then make prints in a friend's improvised darkroom. Early adulthood found me toting my sister's Nikon FE2, featuring Aperture Priority. Later, with a need to take "photojournalistic" shots quickly and reliably (interstate and overseas), I moved up to a Nikon F8oi.

I also owned a Konica Hexar rangefinder camera for a few years, but eventually I sold everything to procure my "dream" Canon kit. Stashed into a large backpack were two bodies (with vertical grips), two pro-series zooms and filters, two flash units and a battery pack, the sum total of which weighed almost as much as me!

Starting a cafe forced me to sell all that gear, plus more. I did, however, keep one of the EOS A2E bodies " and it's been my real workhorse these past seven years.

With the pressures of the food industry, my life, time and energies were totally consumed. My meditation teacher kept reminding me that I was no longer doing photography. Eventually, with renewed inspiration, I pulled out all stops and went charging off into previously unexplored regions of the craft, striving to collect images of nature's beauty. Simultaneously, I became a member of APS. This provided me with much assistance and illumination from many knowledgeable, friendly and dedicated world-class photographers.

I continue to practice the art and craft of photography as much as time permits. My interests and subject matter are many and varied.

Photography provides me with an inexhaustible source of joy and challenges to capture nature images, as well as recording significant events in the world. Concurrently, it's given me an insight into my "inner workings", helping me to discover who I am. Concomitant with all this, photography has supplied much delight to those with whom I've shared my work; they've each found something that appeals to them in their own way from my various photos.

Let's be grateful that photography has enriched all our lives and helped the world progress towards perfection. ®
